ABOUT US - Facilities Improvements
Thanks to the generous support of community donors and our parent organization, W.I.S.E, we are constantly making updates and improvements to our facilities.
In 2005, a new playground was built at Westwood Charter. All playing areas were resurfaced, and new climbing equipment and a large artificial turf grass field were installed. A beautiful outdoor eating area featuring brightly colored tables was completed, and numerous trees were planted to green the campus.
Since that time, upgrades to the yard have also continued. Murals depicting California landscapes were painted on the handball courts and the front entrance to the school was redesigned and landscaped. An outdoor art area has been completed and additional storage added outside. Most recently, a stunning mosaic was completed by artist Katrina Alexy in our outdoor garden and native vegetation is about to be planted.
Other improvements include the auditorium, which was recently refurbished, and electrical upgrades which were installed along with new lighting and sound.
Additional projects currently in the planning stages are a redesigned kindergarten yard and an expansion and renovation of the school library.
All of these improvements have been made possible through our generous community donors W.I.S.E.
