Traffic Safety

It's important that we keep our kids safe. Please watch this video to prepare for Traffic Duty at Westwood Charter and learn proper procedures for drop off and pick up.


  1. No parking on Selby, Mississippi, or LaGrange during the hours of 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS! 
  2. Drop off and pick up children without blocking traffic.
  3. Cross at the corner.
  4. Do not park in No Parking Zones.
  5. Do not stop to let your children out in the Red Zone. 
  6. Do not double park.
  7. Do not block driveways.
  8. Do not use the teachers’ parking lot.

REMINDER: It's Parent Conference Week

School will dismiss at 12:45 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, Monday, Feb. 26, Wednesday Feb. 28, & Friday March 2.

School will dismiss at the regular time of 1:41 p.m. (K) and 1:45 p.m. (1-5) on Tuesday, Feb. 27 & Thursday, March 1.

Our Community School

Westwood Charter School is an inclusive, child-centered environment where children feel safe to take risks. It is a community dedicated to educating the whole child. Our students are actively engaged in learning through a curriculum that is both developmental and experiential. Our students are challenged to construct knowledge through meaningful interactions with each other and the world and are agents of change as they embrace their connections to the local and global community. Westwood Charter School is an affiliated charter and a member of the Los Angeles Unified School District and a California Distinguished School. It has been a charter school since July 26, 1993.

Community News



Armchair Auction is here! The incredibly popular teacher outings will be offered again this year and is an important part of the Spring Auction, having raised more than $35,000 for the last several years! These special outings are an opportunity for students to spend quality time with their teachers. They are once in a lifetime opportunities!

Each classroom teacher has donated an activity for the children in their own class. In addition, there are opportunities for the whole school for a special time with other staff members. Bid Sheets will be distributed later this week, so please be on the lookout in your kid’s folder and then read the whole sheet carefully so you don’t miss out on any of the fun!


LUNCHTIME RECYCING PROGRAM WEEK of FEBRUARY 26.                                                              

Love being green? During the week of February 26, we will be continuing WWC’s fantastic Lunchtime Recycling Program! We need 10 parent volunteers to each donate 30 minutes of time during that week.

Kindergarten Conversation will be held on Wednesday, February 21, at 9am in the auditorium and will be followed by a brief parent tour of kindergarten classrooms. Parents of prospective kindergarten or TK students are invited to join us for this informative conversation.  Check our website for enrollment information and Kinder/TK FAQs.   Enrollment for students residing within our residential boundaries begins March 5th.

2017-2018 Fund Drive
