STAR & After School Activities

Westwood Charter's After School Programs

STAR Program
STAR is a charitable 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to offering extended educational, recreational and enrichment programs, to supporting and enhancing school curriculum, and to expanding the cultural base of young people through innovative, quality programs offered by exceptional instructors.

For many years, STAR Education has partnered with Westwood Charter to help it reach its goal of offering a first-rate education complemented by a thorough and robust approach to physical fitness & cultural enrichment.  STAR offers two primary After-School programs at Westwood Charter, the Galaxy Program and the NOVA program.

1.       STAR GALAXY offers a daily dose of scheduled classes, August through June, from the end of the school day until 6pm.  Students rotate through group tutoring, a homework lab, sports/fitness/recreation, and enrichment classes that include Science, Theater, Creative Writing, and Yoga.

2.       STAR NOVA offers enrichment programs with classes that take place once a week, which are offered Monday through Friday.  This allows for more individualized experience tailored to the specific needs and interests of each student.  The wide range of NOVA classes includes such offerings as STAR Eco Station, International Cooking, Spanish Academy, RockSTAR, App Developer, Capoeira, Guitar, Piano, and Junior Magician Academy.
